Besan Pakora is a fried snack originating from the Indian subcontinent. In the areas of Maharashtra, Andhara, and Karnataka, its preparations have a common name known as bajji. Other names include pakoda, pakodi, fritters, and Ponoka, which all mean the same dish.

INGREDIENTS

1 Cup Besan
1 Cup Water
1 Onion
3 Fresh Green Chili
1/2 tbsp Red Chili Powder
1/2 tbsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tbsp Cumin Seeds or Jeera
1/2 tbsp Salt
Oil to Fry

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Chop the onions and green chilies into small pieces

  2. Add one cup of besan powder in a bowl.

  3. Add chopped onions and green chilies, 1/2 tbsp of red chili powder,1/2 tbsp of coriander powder. 1/2 tbsp of cumin seeds or jeera with the besan powder.

  4. Add one cup water in the mixture and stir it for 5 minutes.

  5. Heat the oil in medium flame in a tawa.

  6. Add the besan mixture in small quantities so as to form a pakora like shape

  7. Prepare 15-20 small pakoras with 1 cup besan.

  8. Serve the pakoras with tomato ketchup or chili sauce.

Many nutritious benefits may get gained when you take the Besan pakora snack. The gram flour gets loaded with several nutrients. The meal contains foliate, which reduces levels of high blood pressureand prevents spinal code defects during pregnancy in women.

Notes

The oil that is too hot will make your pakoras crispy and look burnt. Control the heat carefully and avoid less heat, which will result in the snacks being greasy. When you make the dish in advance, you can reheat it in an oven by spreading them on the baking tray on a cooking sheet.
